Resilience Is A Very Special Soft Skill!

Adapting to a change or coping up with a drastic evolution of a constant scene is tough. In an organization, there have been several instances wherein team members have encountered sudden changes that have baffled them. Some have held their horses and managed to tackle the problem by implementing coping strategies while others have panicked. That is why team resilience is a very vital aspect that must be present in an organization.

Having said so, not everyone is born with the talent of healthy coping with disruptions. Building resilience is not a matter of joke and so organizations often opt for Train the trainer courses where a thorough lesson is provided to the trainees that are relevant to any kind of organizational demand.

In an organization, everyone works as a team, and when some of them face issues with resilience the real problems begin. Often, lack of coping up to change generates illness, irritation, silly mistakes, wrong choices, and so on. How to boost resilience at the workplace?

The first thing that an employee should remember is that being authentic is of great value. Understanding one's emotional capability and thereby working on it to develop skills is a brilliant method to fight against odds.

Employees must learn how to prioritize their jobs. There might be tons of pending works but when a disruption has happened, one must sort out the tasks that should be finished off early.

It is okay to have negative thoughts sometimes because that is a natural human instinct. What matters the most is how an employee is kicking out the pessimism, focusing on goals, and remembering how nicely he/she has tackled as obstruction earlier. Trust me, this method helps a lot. Having a true sportsmanship spirit is of utter importance.

Teamwork is of sheer importance

Every member of a team has a set of knowledge and skills and during such emergencies, the best of talents should be utilized. Constant feedbacks are important to get a job done more perfectly.

The term stress-management sounds very alluring but honestly, the task is really tough. When any sudden issue occurs, having a sane work-life balance is almost impossible. Take a deep breath. Remember that no matter what, you are skilled enough to dodge the interceptions and shine brighter.

Try to stay healthy during this time

Falling sick will only delay the job. Therefore, try to do physical exercise, eat healthy foods that do not affect your digestive system adversely.

The 7 c's model of Resilience:

Dr. Kenneth Ginsburg for the first time has come up with the idea of 7 C's model of resilience. He is a child pediatrician and a human development expert who believes that there are 7 important components that are interrelated. He says that those components are important for building resilience in children and teens but this model is pretty effective in organizations as well.

Leaders in an organization always teach these principles to the employees. Those have always been proven quite effective whenever they have encountered any turmoil. The 7 C's are as follows:

Culture:

In a team, everyone works together. Everyone is more or less aware of the history and identity of each other. They share a similar aim and they have a purpose to work for a particular task. That feeling binds them together.

Competence:

Highly resilient employees are extremely talented. These days, resilience is considered as one of the most important soft skills. An employee who knows how to keep during a critical situation and then again deliver his/her best performance is the most competent one.

Connection:

Resilient employees build a strong relationship among themselves. They believe that they are working to reach the same target and consider themselves equal irrespective of any difference in designations.

Commitment:

Loyalty is one of the best qualities of a resilient employee. Such employees are very much dedicated to the organization and always try to align their goals with that of the organization. They value the investment of time and emotion.

Communication:

There is no communication gap between resilient team members. They are well aware of the things that are happening in the organization. They always encourage brainstorming sessions, critical questioning, and analytical thinking to ensure efficient productivity.

Coordination:

Employees who believe in synchronization have turned to be effectively resilient in crises. Even if there is a conflict in a team, they always tend to sort that out and help the team to work in sync.

Consideration:

Supporting each other is a major trait of resilient employees. They do not fake emotions with each other and express genuine gratitude whenever needed.
