19th February 2021

Corporate training is a very happening and complex aspect that prevails in every organisation, and also happens to be very important. While the purpose of training is to meet certain organisational objectives, the task of designing and implementing corporate training is very convoluted and tricky as what works for one organisation might not work for another firm with a different culture, products, and objectives. A trainer training program for new trainers would usually delve into these complications, and also consider the common challenges faced by corporate trainers. Let’s take a look at some of the common challenges observed in corporate training:

  • Enhancing learning effectiveness: Every training session is conducted to meet a particular objective. These objectives different between departments and companies, and achieving learning effectiveness is extremely tricky and subjective. A strategy that has perhaps worked for a firm in a specific industry may not work well for a different industry or workforce. That said, there are no real standards or guidelines that can be pursued to make a training session effective or not.
  • The debate around employee certification: Typically, when a training session is conducted, employees expect to receive a certificate upon completion of the program as they earn new skills and knowledge. These certificates can also potentially escalate their job opportunities. However, companies may not always want to certify their trainees as doing so would equip them with the ability to move on to other jobs with the skills and qualifications earned. This can hence lead to a conflict of interests.
  • Online learning implementation: A lot of our training and learning processes have shifted online, and many organisations have embraced this properly. However, there still remains certain discrepancies around connectivity issues, being able to teach effectively, communication gaps, cultural barriers, interactivity technological knowledge, and other factors that act as hindrance to virtual training with organisations.
  • Budget constraints: The sad truth is that despite wanting to procure the best out of their manpower, firms often allocate a limited budget to for their learning and development elements. This prevents the execution of effectual and quality training sessions as the lack of investment disrupts quality.

A trainer training program for new trainers happen to explore these challenges in greater depth, and also outline other vital elements that challenge the quality and coherence of corporate training in the modern working conditions. It is very important for trainers to be aware of these challenges because they will then be able to prepare for them and cater to them accordingly.
